Open Letter to Prime Minister of India on right to privacy of PVCHR

To,

The Prime Minister
Government of India
New Delhi

Subject: regarding non –recipient of manual "Choice and self esteem"

Dear Sir,

I want to draw your attention towards the problem faced by Peoples' Vigilance Committee on Human Rights (PVCHR) through the postal department, as on 12 May, 2009 Mr. Pritam Rohila, Executive Director, Association for Communal Harmony in Asia sent the Manual " Choice and self esteem" Learning yourself written by Deri Joy Ronis Ph.D through airmail from USA. Till now PVCHR does not receive the manual.

PVCHR is continuously facing the similar problem and in March, 2009 an open letter was sent to the Chairperson National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi to persuade the appropriate authority to stop the banning of official letters. Please see link
http://pvchr.blogspot.com/2009/03/letter-to-nhrcindia-on-right-to-privacy.html

However no appropriate action was taken by the concerned authority still postal department is interrupting the postage document of the organization. This activity of the department is badly affecting the work and the privacy of the organization. In the Cantt post office Mr. Srivastava of Intelligence Bureau was scanning the letter of PVCHR.

Therefore it is a kind request to kindly persuade postal department to stop banning the postage document of PVCHR and take immediate action to stop Mr. Srivastava for breaking the privacy of PVCHR so, the organization can works up to full extent and the people may be benefited with organization work.

Thanking You

Sincerely Yours

Dr. Lenin Raghuvanshi

Dear Lenin:

Would you be willing to help us getting the manual described below translated in Urdu and having it adapted it for our use with school children in India?

The manual is entitled, "Choices and Self-esteem: Learning to Respect Yourself, and it is written by Deri Joy Ronis, Ph.D. Dr. Ronis holds a Ph. D. in Conflict Resolution and Peace Studies, and is a certified mediator and licensed counselor. She has done some pioneering work in the field of conflict resolution and peace studies. She has kindly given her permission to translate and adapt it for our use in Pakistan and India.

The manual is in the form of a workbook. It includes activities, which are intended to help children to express themselves in non-abusive, non-violent ways. It encourages them feel all right to have opinions and ideas which are different from others, and that it is safe to agree to disagree. It offers a practical way to teach children to think independently, feel good about themselves and not to follow others blindly. It presents a subtle approach to teach nonviolence, conflict-resolution, and peace-building.

I will send a copy of the manual after I hear from you.

Best wishes,

Pritam
